Mudumalai - Wild Life Sanctuary Mudumalai - Wild Life Sanctuary
Mudumalai wildlife reserve is a continuation of the Bandipur National Park. The river Moyar that flows along the border of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka separates the two. The Mysore-Ooty highway runs through the park. The 321 sq. km. reserve is situated in Tamil Nadu. Mudumalai wildlife reserve was the first sanctuary in south India. The terrain is extremely varied with hills, valleys, ravines, watercourses and swamps. The vegetation comprises of tropical moist deciduous forests, dry deciduous forests and scrub forests. Compared to the nearby reserves, the climate is warmer in Mudumalai.
   
Ootacamund Ooty
Also known as the “Queen of Hill Stations”, is situated on the Nilgiris (Blue Mountain) at an altitude of 7500 feet above sea level. The entire plateau is full of splendid green downs and lofty hills of extra ordinary scenic beauty and is endowed with a salubrious climate similar to the English Summer. The Sanctuary, situated at an altitude of 1,400 metres in the Western Ghats, is home to different kind of animals and birds like Elephant, Gaur, Tiger, Panther, Sloth Bear, Deer, Wild Bear, Wild Dog, Porcupine, Flying Squirrel, Jackal, Pangolin, Civet Cat and Birds like Rocket-Tailed Drogue, Re-Whiskered Bulbul, Black-Headed Oriole, Tree Pie, Spotted Dove and Green Pigeon. The Amaravathy Reservoir in the Anaimalai has a large number of Crocodiles.

santum can be approached by foot steps, electrically operated ropeway as well as winches. It is 100 KMs from Coimbatore.

The Dhyanalingam is The First Sacred Lingam of its kind to be fully concentrated in Over 2000 years, Isha Yoga. The 13 feet 9 inches Tall Dhyanalingam is made of a single piece of highdensity Granite Stone. The Dome that encloses The Dhyanalingam is the section of an ellipse.
It has been built with only traditional materials like Burnt Bricks and Mud Mortar. The Dome measures 33 feet from the ground level and has a Diametre of 72 feet 8 Inches at the bottom. It weighs approximately 700 Tons. Situated at the foothills of the Velliangiri Mountains, Dhyanalinga is a colossal entity of eternal vibrations. The earth colors, the natural granite, and the fusion of irregular surfaces and shapes that form the Temple creates an ethereal ambience and an apt atmosphere to receive the grace of the Dhyanalinga.

It is dedicated to Lord Vinayaka and is situated about 13 KMs from the heart of Coimbatore City. People travelling further south usually pray to this God to prevent obstacles or hurdles on their journey, as he is considered the remover of obstacles. The temple is among the oldest one in Coimbatore and dates back to 1500A.D.The moolavar at this temple was actually meant for Perur Patteshwarar temple and since it got struck on its way from Madurai, Eachnari became the blessed place. The deity's height is 6 feet and the width is 3 feet and is one of the biggest in SouthIndia.

Maruthamalai Temple, situated on a hillock, about 12 kms from Coimbatore, is an important temple dedicated to Lord Muruga. The temple gets its name from the Marutha trees in the forests on the hill. The hills also have many medicinal herbs in their forests. This temple was built about 800 years ago. The temple and its surroundings are abuzz with devotees who can be
seen trekking the 700-odd steps to the top of the temple, as penance. There are frequent buses from Coimbatore city to Maruthamalai. From the base of the temple local buses ply to the temple.
   
Perur Patteeshwarar Temple Perur Patteeshwar Temple
This ancient temple was built by Karikala Chola. It is 17 km from Coimbatore to the West and is dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is also known as Mel Chidambaram, the exquisite sculptures in Kanagasabai are a tourist attraction.It is located on the Siruvani Main Road about 7 kilometres from the city.
